In celebration of Earth Day on April 22, 2025, The Pokémon Company has announced a brand-new animated short — and it’s all about nature, friendship, and our favorite Pokémon! Titled Pokémon Ecology Diary (working title), the special features beloved characters like Pikachu, Chimchar, Tepig, and Eevee, joining forces in a heartwarming story focused on environmental awareness.
The announcement came through the official Pokémon account on Weibo, where the team shared:
“April 22, 2025 is Earth Day. While Pokémon help us discover the beauty of the world, are Trainers also curious about the ecology of the Pokémon universe? The special short Pokémon Ecology Diary will be released tomorrow at noon on our official channels.”
The premiere is set for 12 PM (Beijing time), which is 12 AM EDT — so prepare the snacks or set your alarm if you’re planning to catch it early!
What makes this even more exciting is that the animation is being handled by the iconic CoMix Wave Films — the studio behind Makoto Shinkai’s breathtaking works like Your Name and Suzume. Expect stunning visuals and a story that tugs at your heart.
This special follows February’s release of Dragonite and the Mail Carrier, which aired during Pokémon Day.
